The demise of Sarkin Sullubawa, the District Head of Kaita, Abdulkarim Usman, has put Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in to a sorrowful mood thereby expressing his  sympathy to the Katsina Emirate Council, the government and the people of Katsina State on Sunday in Abuja.

The reigning Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, is the elder brother to the late Sarkin Sullubawa but he is older than Kabiru Hassan who is the Director of Finance and Accounts, State House, Abuja.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity signed Buhari’s condolence message to the Emirate  on Sunday. This message was conveyed by a delegation led by the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika.

The statement read, “On behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, government and the people of the country and on my own behalf, we convey our deepest sympathies to the family of the late Sarkin Sullubawa, relatives and friends, the Katsina Emirate Council as well as the government and people of Katsina State.”

The President emphasized that business and political leaders should emulate some attributes of the departed statesman which are but not limited to contributions to the development of the country with distinction, going all out to ensure eradication of polio from his community.

The Emir expressed his gratitude to the President for being a pillar for the people of Katsina State in good and bad times.
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, who also received the delegation, spoke about the qualities of the deceased District Head, saying the deceased stood fearlessly with President Buhari in his political odyssey.
