Banker and Tech Man Charged for Obtaining N13m on False Pretence
Two individuals, a 39-year-old banker named Christina Oyeleye, and a 39-year-old tech man named Adelana Adewusi, were charged in court on Wednesday for allegedly obtaining N13 million on false pretences.
Christina Oyeleye is a resident at 7, Adeagbo St., Abule Egba, while Adelana Adewusi is a resident at Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on October 7, 2022, at Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos.
Akeem said that the second defendant, Adewusi, introduced the first defendant to Mrs Esther Adesanya as a banker that could help her change the naira to the dollar.
They reportedly promised to change the money into dollars but failed to deliver on their promise.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, stated that the offences were committed in October 2022 in Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos.
The complainant had paid the money into Adewusi’s account, who then introduced Oyeleye as a banker that could help her change the naira to the dollar.
The prosecutor alleged that since then, all efforts to get her money have failed.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence, stealing, and issuing a dud cheque.
The court granted them bail of N1 million each with two sureties in like sum, and the case was adjourned until March 30.
