Bandits kill 12 villagers, 7 Policemen in Zamfara State attack
Zamfara State bandit attack killed 12 villagers and seven policemen on Thursday in a brutal attack on Magarya village in Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, revealed that the victims included a member of the Zamfara State Community Guards, also known as Askarawan Zamfara and four local residents.
According to Dalijan, around 300 bandits stormed the village on motorbikes. “Upon arrival, they surrounded our men and opened fire, killing seven policemen and injuring several others,” he said.
The police commissioner noted that the bandits were retaliating against the police force’s presence, which had prevented them from executing their criminal activities in the area for over two years.
“Since the deployment of police to the area, the bandits could not find an opportunity to attack the village,” Dalijan stated.
In response to the Zamfara State bandit attack, Dalijan announced that more police personnel would be deployed to Magarya village to bolster security and prevent further violence.
