Aston Villa boss, Steven Gerrard picks his list of World’s best Midfielders
He has been there, he has done it and he was it.
Aston Villa boss, Steven Gerrard, has gone on to name his list of midfielders he believes are the best in the world, bring names like Jude Bellingham, Kevin De Bruyne, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic into.
And who could doubt the list, especially one that has Kevin De Bruyne in the conversation.
Gerard, a Liverpool legend, recognized as one of the best midfielders in the history of the Premier League himself, in an interview with former England teammate, Rio Ferdinand, is quoted saying in regards to the mentioned list, “Playing now… love Jude Bellingham, absolutely loving him.” he said, while speaking of Bellingham.
“Kevin De Bruyne, without a shadow of a doubt. I’m going to go for attacking players.” He said of the Manchester City player.
“If I had to pick one of them, Kevin De Bruyne, for me, is an absolute specialist midfielder.”
And of course, the Ex Liverpool captain is right especially to anyone who witnessed Kevin De Bruyne’s performance last night against a tough Wolverhampton team, and his performances in general this season.
If anyone is to be in the running for the Ballon d’or against the likes of Kareem Benzema, then it has to be the Belgium international.
The Liverpool legend also named former Manchester United midfielder, Roy Keane and former Arsenal captain, Patrick Vieira as his toughest opponent during his playing days.
