Arunma Oteh responds to man’s ‘sugar mummy’ request

Former treasurer and vice president of the world bank, Arunma Oteh has attracted the attention of social media users amid compliments after she publicly declined the “sugar mummy” request of an admirer.

“Thanks for your acknowledgement but I’m unable to be a sugar mummy as it is against my values,” the critically-acclaimed officer of the Order of Niger (OON) wrote in response to a request from a male admirer on Twitter.

Oteh, who hails from Abia state in Nigeria, has severally been commended for her intellectual abilities, having worked for various institutions, including the Havard Institute for International Development.

She was made an officer of the OON in “recognition for her contribution to economic development and to transforming the Nigerian capital markets”.

Oteh also bagged a “Distinction in Public Service” award from the Commonwealth Business Council/African Businesses in 2011 and won the CNBC Africa’s All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) for the category ‘Business Woman of the Year’ in 2014.

Shortly after her exit from the world bank as a treasurer, Oteh joined the Oxford University as an academic scholar and was appointed as a non-executive director by the Ecobank Group.

She holds a masters degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a first class honors bachelor of science degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
