A 'secret agreement' could see Xabi Alonso replace Klopp

Football is an unfair sport in as much as there are lots of rules guiding the game to allow for fair play, outside the pitch, the business end of it is not entirely fair and for Jurgen Klopp, things might change swiftly if their 2023/24 campaign does not go well.

Following Liverpool’s poor transfer activity this summer, quite a lot of fans and analysts have been looking at the potential future of the club in a year or two to come as it relates to Jurgen Klopp’s time on Merseyside.

And as it is, it appears the future may have already been decided without anyone knowing as a recent report pertaining to former Liverpool midfielder, and current Bayer Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso was leaked to the media.

According to the report, the former Bayern Munich player has a ‘secret pact’ with Leverkusen after extending his contract with the Bundesliga club to leave whenever he chooses to, and if a perfect offer came for the Spaniard to exit the club.

This puts Liverpool in a perfect position to nab Xabi Alonso from Germany if the club ever decides to move past their current manager.

The report comes courtesy of German news outlet Sport Bild, that was cited via Get Football News Germany, adding more intrigue to the topic of the Jurgen Klopp ever leaving Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard was one player who was linked with the Liverpool job prior to his sack by Aston Villa and his eventual move to Al-Ettifaq.

But following Xabi Alonso’s success with Bayer Leverkusen, and speculations of Real Madrid eyeing their former star as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso sees his name being mentioned in the ranks of those to take over reins of Anfield.

It is however still topics of speculation at the moment, with nothing said about Jurgen Klopp exiting the Reds yet.
