MTN donates N1B, 4,600 devices for Nigerian schools

MTN Nigeria has made a significant contribution to the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate hardship and promote education, donating N1 billion to the Food Support Programme and 4,600 digital devices for distribution to schools across the country.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by MTN Nigeria’s Chairman, Mr. Ernest Ndukwe, to Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa on Friday, August 9.

Mr. Ndukwe highlighted that the N1 billion donation is part of MTN’s ongoing commitment to supporting the most vulnerable and underserved communities in Nigeria. He explained that this initiative is aligned with MTN’s “AMBITION 2025 strategy,” which emphasizes strategic partnerships with the government to drive national development.

“Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind through increased collaboration and support for the Federal Government’s initiatives.

The N1 billion donation is aimed at assisting those most in need, while the digital devices will enhance education by increasing digital literacy in secondary schools,” Ndukwe stated.

The 4,600 digital devices, each pre-installed with the U-lesson application, are intended to support the Federal Government’s objective of improving students’ access to current information in science and technology. Ndukwe expressed confidence that these tools would foster creativity, analytical thinking, and adaptability among students.

Vice President Shettima praised MTN Nigeria’s contributions, describing them as a reflection of the company’s dedication to the country’s progress.

He assured that the funds and devices would be judiciously managed by relevant government agencies to maximize their impact.

In response, Mr. Ndukwe reaffirmed MTN Nigeria’s ongoing support for the Federal Government, emphasizing the company’s commitment to being a partner in the nation’s growth and development. He also expressed hope that other businesses would follow MTN’s example in corporate social responsibility.
