A tragic incident unfolded on Friday at the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as a 40-feet container fell and fatally crushed a woman inside her car.

Thankfully, her driver escaped unharmed, as confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

According to Taofiq Adebayo, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, the driver and assistant of the articulated truck carrying the container fled the scene following the accident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck driver was speeding and lost control due to brake failure, resulting in the collision with the car and the container falling onto it.

The authorities have handed over the deceased woman’s body to the police for further investigation.
