Topnaija.NG had earlier reported that a woman was stripped off her clothes and paraded round the village for allegedly killing her husband as a result of infidelity in Aguleri, Anambra State.

However, the Women of ‘Arise for Change Initiative’ has condemned this terrible act in a press statement in Awka, on Monday.

The Group in a statement signed by the Chairman, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme and Secretary, Evangelist Chinyere Uzoma  described the act as barbaric, insensate, inhumane and despicable.

The statement read, “It is very unfortunate that at this 21st century, dignity, honour and respect for women were trampled upon, just a few days after the celebration of International Women’s Day.

“We are not in a state of nature in which the might is right. It is pertinent to note that there is a constitutional means to seek redress and not for citizens to take laws into their hands.”

They urged the relevant agencies not to leave any stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators of the evil and barbaric act were brought to book in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

“According to Rev. Martin Luther King Jr: Evil triumph not because of those who do it, but because good people sit back and do nothing, in addition to the wise postulation of Archbishop Desmond Tutu: We are murderers the moment we see evil and failed to speak against it.

“Let us unite more than ever before to fight against these despicable human rights abuses, immorality and lawlessness,” the group added.
