10 men infect rape victim with HIV, captured in Katsina

The police in Katsina State have arrested 10 men who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl during which she was invested with HIV.

The suspects, including a 60-year-old man, reportedly raped the girl at different times and in different occasions at Kwadage village, in the Maiadua Local Government Area of the state.

The victim’s father, Muazu Yakubu, reported the incident at the Maiadua Police Division, leading to their arrest on November 6, 2020.

The police identified the suspects as Yau Miko, 40; Taade Nati, 35; Saminu Hashimu, 25; Mannir Yunusa, 35; Danladi Idi, 30; and Rabiu Abdu, 40.

Others are Burhani Sanda, 30; Isiya Yunusa, 30; Musa Haru, 60; and Shafiu Mamman.

The police, while parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Wednesday, said the victim was taken to Comprehensive Health Centre, Maiadua, for medical examination.

She was said to have tested positive for HIV. One of the suspects, Mamman, also tested positive for the virus.
