You’ll be sacked if you bring him here—Atletico warns Simeone
You’ll be sacked if you bring him here, Atletico Madrid fans echo warning to Diego Simeone as they argue player represents the opposite of what the club stands for.
The blood feud between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is quite one so great that the club wouldn’t think of the prospect of having a former Real Madrid player in their ranks.
It’s not something they are eager to consider, especially if that said player has been a torment to them at critical stages over the years.
They won’t even give it a thought, not even if the said player is the acclaimed Greatest Of All Time, Cristiano Ronaldo.
You’ll get the sack if you bring him here, the fans empathically warned their coach on the sacrilege of bringing their former oppressor to the Wanda Metropolitano.
The protests comes after the former Real Madrid star was linked to the club with rumors of his agent, Jorge Mendes being spotted at Madrid in his bid to find a club for his client.
Diego Simeone has been quite the iconic figure at Wanda Metropolitano, but the Atletico fans warns that they don’t care about that if he makes the error of bringing CR7 to the club.
Simeone has guided the club to two Champions League finals and a La Liga title twice, bringing the club to a glorious era.
The protests started online with a #ContraCR7 campaign on Twitter and continued with an open letter from the supporters to the club in which they claimed Ronaldo “represents the antithesis of the values that constitute the hallmarks of our Atleti, such as effort, generosity, simplicity and humility”.
During a friendly against Numancia on Wednesday, Atletico fans held up an anti-Ronaldo banner behind the goal and threatened Simeone with the sack.
“Simeone, Simone, listen to the fans,” they chanted. “If you sign Cristiano, you will go to the wall.”
Even Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo, is in on the joke as he earlier this week, said it would be “practically impossible” for Ronaldo to move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
