Will Mohamed Salah remain a Liverpool player in October?
Liverpool fans sit on the edge over Mohamed Salah’s potential departure from the club this summer despite the club’s hierarchy insistent on not selling the Salah this window.
Mohamed Salah is not for sale, the club has consistently said, via the club’s manager, Jurgen Klopp and news sources close to the club, but saying something today is a much different reality tomorrow, and with the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window still open till the ending of September, a lot of anxiety is left to be felt.
Earlier today it was reported that Saudi Pro League club, Al Ittihad had submitted a verbal bid worth more than £100m + substantial add-ons to Liverpool, which the club had swiftly rejected.
This was after what was reported to have been an amicable call to the club’s chairman, Mike Gordon late last night, however it was reported the Liverpool chairman reinstated the same line the club has consistently said this summer; ‘Mohamed Salah is not for sale’.
The Merseyside club believe the case is closed, but according to transfer expert and journalist, David Ornstein, the Saudi Pro League do not believe so, and perhaps will not be ready to take a no for an answer.
Reports from British journalists believe the bid for Mohamed Salah isn’t for any football reason but a PR ploy to switch the image the world has of Saudi Arabia.
According to a journalist with The Athletic, Nick Miller via his Twitter platform, he is quoted as writing of the massive bid for Mohamed Salah;
“Saudi Arabia have made their bid for Mohamed Salah & made a big noise. Let’s not forget they’re doing it to make people think of football when they think of Saudi, not sentencing people to death for tweets against the government.”
The Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has already expressed his fear of the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window despite the fact he maintains confidence about Salah staying for the season.
And for pundits working on talkSPORT, the consensus is that it takes another massive bid to force Liverpool’s hands to letting go of their priced asset this summer no matter how hesitant they have been.
Jurgen Klopp has also expressed worry over the massive contract offers Saudi Pro League clubs ditch out to players, which could end up playing a factor in coaxing Mohamed Salah into inadvertently pushing for the move even after the Premier League summer window shuts tonight.
A lot of fear rests in Liverpool as no replacement has been signed by the club, which could either mean the Egyptian has given his word on staying, or Liverpool want to play a gamble. Whichever it might be, it remains to be seen if Mohamed Salah will remain a Liverpool player in October.
