Why I actually left Manchester City–Sterling confesses
It took some time but Chelsea finally has its first signing of the summer transfer window in Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, with more to come.
The Blues ever since the transfer window, were together with Manchester United, the subjects of criticisms with their lack of activity thereof in getting new players signed in.
But that all has changed with the signing of Raheem Sterling and Tyrell Malacia for Chelsea and Manchester United respectively in a bid to allay fans’ fears over the coming season.
For the former Manchester City player, who has become sort of a marquee signing for the London club, he sat through an interview session to disclose why he chose to make the move for Chelsea despite the criticisms.
The England International who acknowledged the move may have come under criticisms, revealed that he did so seizing the opportunity to work with German coach, Thomas Tuchel and specifically due to the fact his home was in London.
“First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here.” He had started.
“I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far,” he acknowledged
“But there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’ management.
“London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.” Sterling said.
With the former Liverpool player making his third move to a Premier League club for a fee worth £47.5m, the 27 year old signs a 5 year contract to stay at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
There is an option for a further year after the initial 5 year elapses.
Sterling has already linked up with his Chelsea teammates in the United States ahead of the coming pre-season fixtures.
“I can’t wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch,” the player added.
