Why Apple raises iPhone 16 Pro battery replacement cost to $119

Apple has raised the price for battery replacements on its latest iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.

The cost for replacing the battery on these devices is now $119, reflecting a $20 increase from previous fees.

However, battery replacement costs for the standard iPhone 16 and “Plus” models remain unchanged, as do the prices for earlier iPhone versions, according to MacRumors.

While other Apple devices have yet to see a similar price hike, such increases wouldn’t be surprising.

In 2022, Apple raised the cost of iPhone 14 battery repairs by $30 to $99, followed by price increases for iPads, MacBooks, and older iPhone models. Apple Watches also saw a rise in battery repair costs.

Apple’s one-year warranty covers defective batteries, and customers with AppleCare Plus can receive a free replacement if the battery’s capacity is below 80 per cent.

For those with batteries above that threshold, alternatives include third-party repairs or DIY fixes using official Apple parts, both potentially cheaper than Apple’s full-price service.
