What it takes to get signed by Mavins records — Don Jazzy

Nigerian music artiste and producer, Don Jazzy has given aspiring artistes looking for exposure via his record label, ‘Marvins Records’ a hint of what it takes to get signed on.

In a recent interview, Don Jazzy revealed six criteria that could help potential collaborators looking to sign on to Mavins.

According to the famed music tycoon who has built himself a profile of scouting raw talents into his record label, he explained that while he often dismisses a social media following as a consideration, it has become a key facet he looks at in musicians before signing them on.

In his defense, having a social media presence is vital in promoting an artiste’s work on social media, something the younger generation has.

He also considers other criteria like talent, diligence, mannerism, character and age of musicians before signing them on.

The former Mo’Hits Records Vice President underlined that it an artiste making their life better than it was yesterday while touching the lives of their family is what Mavins Record stands for.

In his words; “Once upon a time I wouldn’t think of signing an artist that is social media savvy but now I kind of want to put it at the beginning of my list.

“Talent, due diligence, mannerism, character, age at the moment is kind of important as well. The people that move the market are the young ones because the older guys are busy making money for the family and are worried about their family.

“They don’t care about helping you to go and stream or watching your social media to know when you post but the young guys are still much into the whole culture.”
