What I really care about -- Vincent Kompany on Chelsea job

Former Manchester City defender and current Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, has responded to reports that he is being considered as a target for the permanent manager role at Chelsea. According to recent English media reports, the 37-year-old is now in the running for the hot seat at Stamford Bridge, after guiding Burnley to the Premier League.

The Blues have been considering various candidates for the managerial position, including the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique. However, their interest in these managers is said to be cooling off. Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly, and his team are expected to announce their new permanent boss before the end of the season.

Kompany’s Burnley side are currently struggling, having taken just two points from their last three games and losing to relegation-battlers QPR on Saturday. Despite this, Kompany is focused on his current role and not engaging in any conversations regarding the Chelsea job.

When asked about the speculation linking him with the Blues, Kompany stated, “I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.”

Kompany, a former Belgium international, is regarded as a City legend, having won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and four League Cups during his time at the Etihad. He has been in charge of Burnley since November 2022 and helped them secure promotion to the Premier League.
