"We're not the only ones to lose" -- Pochettino blasts Chelsea critics

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has taken a hard ball and flown it directly at his critics over the 1-0 loss in the Carabao Cup semi-final to Middlesbrough.

The manager is ready to shun the narratives from critics.

According to the Argentine, the situation and the defeat is being blown out of proportion, insisting the Blues are not the only side to ever loose a game at the Riverside Stadium or to Middlesbrough.

Speaking of the 1-0 defeat, Mauricio Pochettino said;

“Other Premier League teams have lost to Middlesbrough these years,”

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss goes on to reference the game between Brighton and Hove Albion which he alleged Moises Caicedo had told him the Seagulls lost to the same side last season.

The Chelsea boss said;

“Moises Caicedo was telling me: oh, last season we lost at Middlesbrough with Brighton! A lot of Premier League teams when they play there, they lose.”

However, Pochettino’s or Moises Caicedo’s recollection of the clash is flawed as Brighton actually ran away with a 5-1 away win at the Riverside Stadium in the FA Cup 3rd Round clash, same season and same game that Caicedo featured in as a Brighton player.

However, Pochettino is right about Middlesbrough taking down some big names as Manchester United once stood victims of the Boros last season.
