"We were in a rush" -- Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed deep disappointment following his team’s 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday night, acknowledging that his side fell short in crucial areas during the match.

At Goodison Park, goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin dealt a significant blow to Liverpool’s title aspirations.

Reflecting on the match in an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp conceded, “I’m very disappointed. We played into Everton’s hands exactly as they wanted. Both goals came from set pieces, an area where they excel.”

Despite creating numerous opportunities, Liverpool struggled to convert their chances, with Klopp lamenting their lack of clarity and composure in front of goal. He noted Everton’s effectiveness in executing their set-piece routines, which ultimately sealed the victory.

“We created a lot and didn’t score. We were in a rush, not really clear enough. They scored the second goal with the routine they do all season. They had free kick after free kick, but we weren’t good enough.”

With the defeat, Liverpool now find themselves three points behind league leaders Arsenal, with 74 points to their name. Their next challenge comes in the form of an away fixture against West Ham in Saturday’s early kick-off.
