JAMB releases additional UTME results following investigation
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released an additional 36,540 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results on Tuesday, following the release of 531 results the previous week.
This brings the total released results to 1,879,437. The board stated that these additional results were initially withheld for further investigation.
In a statement issued through its spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB refuted reports circulating on social media regarding a cyber security breach compromising the 2024 UTME results.
The board clarified that there was no truth to these claims and urged the public to disregard such misinformation.
Additionally, JAMB emphasized the integrity of its operational processes and assured that the results are secure and cannot be hacked.
Furthermore, JAMB addressed concerns raised about misleading comments from private institutions regarding cut-off marks. The board clarified that minimum admissible scores are determined through consensus at the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions, where all Heads of Institutions agree upon a benchmark. JAMB cautioned against institutions submitting lower minimum scores than agreed upon.
JAMB also urged religious organizations to focus on their primary roles and refrain from making false representations to government entities for selfish reasons. The board emphasized the importance of accurate information and urged the public to be wary of misleading statements from sources not affiliated with JAMB.
Lastly, JAMB reiterated its commitment to thoroughly review CCTV footage from accredited centers to investigate any instances of examination misconduct. The board assured that findings from these investigations would be made public.
