Udo Okonjo: The Power Of Building When It Makes No Sense

This is surely a season of manifesting all that God has called us to do irrespective of the adversaries and distractions. There’ll never be a perfect time to build a lasting legacy. The best time is always TODAY! And the best model for building is after the order of Noah’s ark.

You know his story. Noah built when the conditions that required an ark were not existent, while his friends and foes looked on in incredulous wonder and probably scorn- ‘like really- guy- they must have said- who builds an ark where there’s never been a flood.’ Meanwhile, the flood eventually came, and it swept everything and everyone away, scorners, arm chair critics, complainers, idlers, mediocre employees- everyone without vision of the future or the right agenda.

The same flood of crisis that carried others away, and swept them into oblivion because they were not prepared and had not pre built any arks or foundation for crisis- that was the same flood that carried Noah’s ark in safety. His ark floated on top of the flood, while his friends and foes perished inside the flood.

WISE BUILDERS ignore everyone.

What are you building currently? What is God laying on your heart to do? Are you waiting for HUMAN buy in, accolades or approval? Are you trying to check if people think it makes sense to write a blog, share a daily prayer publicly when none might be reading, or start a project that has no previous template? Are you checking to see whether it makes sense to your spouse, your partners or your siblings before you get published, start a magazine, a life event, start that new line or network, class or apply for that position that makes no sense today? What about that prayer circle to reach distressed mothers, support group or workshop for teenagers, vulnerable people?

FEAR NOT.

The Lord has silenced your adversaries/distractions before He gave you that desire or dream? Pay attention to them at your own peril. You’ll never build anything by watching the tide come in. TODAY is the day to prepare for the future God called you to build. The Ark you build today, the prayers you share and the worship you sow today, the platforms you build to reach and teach others without being sure how your reward will come in its fullness will protect you from the flood that will come tomorrow.

Approaching 40 or above? MAKE HAY TODAY. 

Dearest friend, I speak especially to you if you are approaching or above 35/40, you do not have TIME TO WASTE… you must be involved in one of the following amongst other meaningful things.

1. Building the Ark of Prayer, Praise, Worship and studying the word. Get in a small circle and start connecting and deep diving. No more time for shallow waters and dabbling.

2. Building an Ark of Impact for the future generation to run into. What inspired initiative will have your name on it. Not everyone is a starter, but everyone can contribute. What are you creating or co-creating? What a disaster if your life consisted only of work, money, family, church, yes church ain’t enough, and the good things and the token and random charitable acts you support?

You’ve got to get deliberate about building something that will become the platform to provide shelter, succour, encouragement, direction, wisdom, resources, life for others behind you. Use your life, your career or your business to build an ark- a platform for protection and progress. God knows Nigeria, and Africa needs as many Noahs arks as possible. You are called to ignite a new dimension of significance this season. GO beyond seeking success to significance.
