Two individuals, Saviour Daniel and David Isaiah, both 25 years old, were detained on Wednesday in a correctional facility by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for the suspected murder of a commercial sex worker.

The defendants, whose whereabouts were undisclosed, are currently facing trial for suspected murder and conspiracy.

In court, the prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, stated that the defendants carried out the offenses in February 2024 in Ado-Ekiti.

Apata claimed that the defendants were responsible for the death of Comfort James, who was believed to be a commercial sex worker.

According to him, the defendants visited a brothel where they encountered the deceased. After some negotiation, she accompanied them back to their house.

Following that, she requested her payment, but they declined to provide it.

“They strangled her and poured pesticides into her mouth, which led to her death.”

He stated that the offense violated Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The defendants’ pleas were disregarded. The prosecutor requested the court to detain the defendants in a correctional facility until receiving legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Mrs. Kehinde Awosika, the Chief Magistrate, directed the defendants to be held in a correctional facility until legal advice is provided.

The case has been adjourned until March 21 for further discussion.

Reports indicate that the victim was last spotted on February 6th at her home on Isato Street in Ado Ekiti.

Saviour Daniel rescued the sex worker from a brothel in Ekiti, and she never went back.

According to Agboola Sunday Adisa, the Commandant of the NSCDC Ekiti State, the command was informed of a kidnapping incident involving the deceased.

Agboola detailed how Saviour Daniel and David Isaiah, after being contacted by the victim’s friend, requested a ransom of N1 million naira for her release.

Unable to gather the required amount, they had no choice but to submit a complaint to the Command.

The State Command quickly sprang into action and, despite facing numerous challenges, successfully apprehended the suspects.

After investigating the situation, the suspects confessed to luring the victim under the pretense of hiring her as a commercial sex worker.

Commandant Agboola elaborated that the suspects took turns assaulting her, then murdered her and disposed of her body in a nearby farmland.

Additionally, they took the deceased’s cell phone and proceeded to request ransom from the victim’s loved ones.
