Two killed, seven kidnapped in Ebonyi village attack
The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two individuals in an attack on Ikachi Village in the Akparata area of Effium, Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
The incident is the latest in the ongoing deadly clashes between the Ezza and Effium communities that have persisted since 2021.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the attack to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki.
Ukandu reported that the assailants not only killed two people but also destroyed property worth millions of naira during the Sunday assault. Additionally, seven people were kidnapped.
“We are aware of the attack and the command is on top of the situation. We have been working with other security agencies to ensure that peace returns to the area.
The command is also investigating the attack to ascertain the root cause of the matter,” Ukandu stated.
He assured the public that officers and men of the command are committed to protecting lives and property in Ebonyi.
The police are actively coordinating with other security forces to restore peace and stability to the affected region.
