Truck somersaults, crushes motor boy to death

A truck carrying a container somersaulted on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State killing a yet-to-be identified motor boy attached to the truck.

TopNaija gathered that the motor boy died after the truck somersaulted.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident in Abeokuta on Sunday.

He explained that the containerised truck was outbound Lagos from Apapa to an unknown destination when the accident happened.

The TRACE PRO added that the accident occurred due to speeding on the part of the truck driver.

Akinbiyi said a motorist, who was behind the truck, explained that the truck driver was recklessly speeding along the diversion route, which made the truck overturn, while the container detached.

He said, “The body of the motor boy has been deposited in the Divine Heights Hospital mortuary, Mowe.

“With the intervention of TRACE and other sister agencies, the truck was upturned and towed off the road, while Julius Berger is expected to move the container.”
