Transfer: “These are private matters” — Liverpool sporting director says
Liverpool football club have built themselves as a side that works under the shadows and in mysterious ways that sometimes tend to frustrate its fan base.
Heading into the pre-season, the Merseyside club has been mum with their transfer plans, with everything hush and shush at Anfield despite the arrival of a new boss on the turf. However, Sporting director, Richard Hughes has stepped up to quell any rising tension.
“These are private matters,” the Sporting director asserts like a business owner would talk about a family business.

However, Richard Hughes’ comment is in response to the rising fears over the futures of star players like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold who have their contracts expiring soon.
On the reason for the delay in a move toward tying the 3-stars down, Hughes states;
“The only concern we have is total commitment to the cause and we’re absolutely convinced that is the case.”
The Liverpool sporting director goes on to stress the silence in the transfer market on their part, coming from an angle of the opportunist.
“If we can improve certain areas as we go, we will look to do that. We will be opportunistic on the market. I’m in constant communication with Arne.” Hughes says.
The Liverpool boss, Arne Slot who gave his first press conference today, has a few words to say about the 3-key stars too. On Van Dijk, Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, he said:
“In general every top player wants to win trophies. All these players want to win, they have to hunger to win.”
