Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal: Preview, Confirmed Lineup

North London awakens and another derby day brings bitter foes Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal into loggerheads at the Tottenham Stadium.

With a lot to fight for and to prove this season after going so close to winning the premier league title in the last two seasons, Arsenal find themselves yet again at an edgy position as they pay their enemies a visit on their home turf. The Gunners will find themselves doing that without the expertise of some of its key players such as Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice who will both by out facing suspension or battling a fitness concern.

This Tottenham Hotspur side so far haven’t proven to be the formidable side that faced Arsenal in the early stages of last season who came from behind to nearly give Mikel Arteta’s team a run for their money.

So far, the start to the season has been mixed for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs team, which for an Arsenal side missing its key stars, could be its own confidence booster in nicking out a result from this tie.

However, stars or no stars, the hate Tottenham Hotspur shares for Arsenal will not be dictated by an abundance of talents or lack there of. The boys in White will be eager to paint North London white and if possible, rub it on the red of Arsenal. This is a derby, and being on form or no form, means very little to the pride that stands at stake for both teams.

Tottenham Hotspur want to win, and are desperate for the win, if not for premier league points but for the bragging rights and highlight of the season. Arsenal as well would do everything possible to steal a win from Spurs at the ‘new White Hart Lane’, for premier league points and the glory that comes with beating Tottenham Hotspur at their own home.

But that is only easy on paper and less so on the pitch. It will be interesting to see what both sides do on the pitch upon kickoff.
