Thousands of people cheered Mala Buni as he returned to Yobe
A mass of people cheered Mai Mala Buni, the former caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress and the governor of Yobe State on Thursday. He was welcomed with a resounding ovation as he returned to the state a day after he officially handed over the baton to the newly elected Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
It was reported that the Governor was recieved in Damaturu the state capital and it was at a standstill with thousands of people from the 17 local government areas and the neighboring states of Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, and Bauchi.
Buni, commended the people of the state, the North East, and the states in the country for giving him support as chairman caretaker committee of the party, when he spoke at a reception organised in his honour,
He concluded that, to deliver the party in the 2023 elections, members of the APC should support the new National Working Committee headed by Adanu.
Ahmad Lawan who is the president of the Senate also lauded Governor Buni for resuscitating the party.
Mala started his political journey in 1992 when he contested and won a councilor sit under the platform of National Republican Convention (NRC) party, to represent Buni ward in the Gujba Local government council. He was subsequently elected as the speaker of the council.
He became a senior legislative assistant in Nigeria’s National assembly in 2000, and in 2004, he was appointed Member, University of Uyo governing council.
