These ones have no Character—Rooney angrily tears into Man United
Manchester United legend and former captain, Wayne Rooney has been speaking a lot on United’s poor run of form going into the clash against Liverpool.
In his analysis, he theorizes the players putting on the shirt for the Red Devils lack character or hunger as he tears into them going into the game.
Wayne Rooney in his analysis of the team then wonders how anyone could expect the players with lack of hunger and emotion on the pitch to win matches.
The DC United manager made the comments ahead of the derby hoping to get a reaction from the team with his criticisms, considering he has been all over the media tearing into players and suggesting Erik ten Hag not start Cristiano Ronaldo in the fixture.
Of course, Man United’s poor run of form is a concern seeing as the club lost consecutive games to Brighton and Brentford, with Brentford’s being a rather humiliating defeat.
“If you don’t run, if you don’t put in the effort, you can lose to any team. I have never seen Manchester United so lacking in those basic qualities. Their hammering by Brentford was hard to watch,” Rooney wrote in The Times.
The former England international said that he was not moved by the 4-0 defeat handed out to United by Brentford, adding that the manager, Erik ten Hag was right to call players out and talk about hunger.
“Ten Hag will be making a lot of demands to get a reaction out. But with this group, this has been happening for so long that changing their ways is going to take something drastic. They’re emotionless, there is no character, no heart,” he said.
