“There’s no bad blood with Henderson” — Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has set the record straight on Jordan Henderson’s recent comments against Liverpool following his move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolverhampton fixture on return from the International break, the former Borussia Dortmund boss says there is no bad blood between him or the club against Jordan Henderson.
However, Jurgen Klopp clarified that Henderson’s statement came as a result him not being able to give the England international any guaranty of being the main man in midfield.
This of course was what the former Liverpool captain alluded to in his recent interview, albeit Jordan Henderson was quoted as condemning Liverpool for not showing that he was needed in the long run.
In Jurgen Klopp’s press conference, the German said;
“Hendo said the truth in all department. That’s how it was,”
“I told him I wanted him to stay but we talked about not playing regularly… If I’d told him: if you stay you’ll be main man in midfield, then he would have stayed. But I couldn’t say that,”
“Hendo is not great when he is not playing,” Jurgen Klopp stressed.
“There is nothing, not a pint of bad blood or whatever. He is the captain of the most successful team this club has ever saw in the premier league era, and for me, it is rightfully so.
“For me, he is a sensational player.”
The Liverpool boss was also asked about the possibility of Mohamed Salah leaving the club in the January transfer window, but Jurgen Klopp played coy with his response.
“You are kidding me, yeah? You can’t wait until December to ask this question?”
The manager also confirms that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be absent against Wolves on Saturday, but will maintain a wait and see approach for new signing, Ryan Gravenberch.
