Chelsea target opens up on failed deadline day move

Chelsea transfer target, Antonio Nusa has broken his silence following the collapse of his anticipated Deadline Day move to Chelsea.

The Evening Standard reports that Chelsea remains undeterred and is closely monitoring Nusa’s situation, even after their hefty £23 million bid was firmly rebuffed by Club Brugge just last Friday.

The Chelsea Blues were determined to secure the services of the promising winger ahead of their rivals last week. However, it appears that Nusa’s arrival at Stamford Bridge hinged on the departure of either Ian Maatsen or Conor Gallagher, both of whom had reportedly been considered for a potential sale.

Chelsea had also explored the possibility of loaning the 18-year-old talent back to Brugge to ensure his continued development without interruption.

Nusa has been a subject of intense transfer speculation for nearly a year now, gaining attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs since his breakthrough moment last September.

He made history as the second-youngest goalscorer in Champions League history, finding the net in a commanding 4-0 away victory over FC Porto during the group stage.

This young prodigy, who also represents Norway’s Under-21 squad, is presently being closely watched by a staggering 20 other clubs. Belgium’s top division has become one of the most heavily scouted leagues for emerging talent in Europe.

Nusa recently spoke candidly about the failed Chelsea move in an interview with TV2. He admitted,

“I didn’t know about it. I saw there was a lot of stuff on my phone. My phone exploded after the game. Then I wondered what happened. Then I realized.”

He further explained,

“I already knew that it wasn’t going to happen, but then the money came on the table. Then it’s seen in a slightly different way.”

When questioned specifically about the substantial fee offered by Chelsea, Nusa commented,

“That’s a lot of money. A lot of money. But I try not to think about it so much. I can’t focus on that, you know. I don’t think it’s good for me.”

He continued,

“We are talking about very big clubs, and that’s where you dream of being in the future. I try not to think about money at all. There’s a lot of money in football, so that’s not what’s on my mind. It’s where I can develop best and become as good as possible.”
