Suspended NSIPA boss, Halima Shehu, questioned by the EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) questioned Hajia Halima Shehu, the suspended National Co-ordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), on Tuesday.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had already authorized Shehu’s suspension.

According to reports, the suspended NSIPA leader was quizzed for hours in her office in Maitama, Abuja, by the anti-graft agency.

However, no official comment has been issued by the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, or the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation about the claimed suspension of the NSIPA National Coordinator.

On Tuesday, Shehu was scheduled to give out starting kits to victims of the kidney harvest in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area.

The event was canceled after an apparent instruction was issued in the form of a letter supposedly signed by Dr. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

According to Vanguard, EFCC officials subsequently entered her office on Taraba Crescent in Maitama and interrogated her.

The secret meeting between Shehu and EFCC personnel started at 9 a.m. and concluded at 4:30 p.m., with the former following the EFCC officers to an undisclosed location.

Hajia Shehu was the National Programme Coordinator of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s National Conditional Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) prior to her recent Senate confirmation.
