Singer gets shot dead by her husband inside Church
The Makonde Shadani village community outside Thohoyandou, South Africa, a worship leader identified as Funanani Mbedzi lost her life after being allegedly shot dead by her husband during an Easter celebration at their church.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) reported that the murder suspect entered the church premises around 6 pm while congregants were engrossed in worship.
Without warning, he reportedly fired multiple shots at his wife, causing fatal injuries.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo SAPS, confirmed the incident, stating that the assailant fled the scene after having shot dead the wife. Ledwaba highlighted that while the motive for the killing remains unclear, domestic violence is being considered a possible factor.
The husband, who had been on the run for two days, surrendered to authorities. During his arrest, police confiscated a licensed firearm believed to have been the murder weapon used in the crime.
The tragic death of Funanani Mbedzi leaves the local community reeling from the loss, as well as prompting discussions on the urgent need for domestic violence to be addressed in the community.
