Sextape scandal: Funnybone slams Omokri over Peter Obi slander

Nigerian comedian Funny Bone didn’t hold back in his response to Reno Omokri’s recent critique of Peter Obi, following the former presidential candidate’s comment about staying committed to his marriage, even in the face of infidelity.

Omokri pounced on the statement, comparing Obi’s indifference to potential infidelity to a lack of concern for corruption, suggesting that such a personal outlook could translate into lax governance.

Referencing a scandal involving Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency Director, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, who was implicated in multiple affairs with high-profile women, Omokri argued that a president unconcerned with marital fidelity could foster a culture of corruption among officials.

He took a pointed jab at Obi’s association with Fidelity Bank, questioning if “fidelity” could be guaranteed from someone supposedly indifferent to loyalty in his personal life.

Omokri’s post quickly sparked outrage, with Funny Bone stepping into the fray to defend Peter Obi.

The comedian called Omokri’s remarks “too low” and urged the former aide to choose his battles more wisely. “Reno, this is beneath you. Too low for your standards,” he commented, suggesting that Omokri’s post crossed a line.

Funny Bone’s reaction highlights the growing tension between political figures and entertainers weighing in on the private lives of public figures.
