Samson Uche Mogekwu is a Nigerian gospel Artist and Minister based in Abuja, Nigeria.
EARLY LIFE
Samson Uche Mogekwu was born in November 30 1974, in Delta State, Nigeria. He discovered his talent for singing while in high school.
EDUCATION
Samson Uche Mogekwu attended college, and majored in Accounting and graduated from the great Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state.
CAREER
Samsong early dream was to be the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and after his stint in the University, he went on to work in the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Golf Bank but unfortunately or fortunately, did not get any satisfaction from his bank jobs and so he quit to go into music.
Samsong is one of the few very popular gospel musicians in Nigeria. In 1991, he formed a group of four, ‘Praise Creation’ which was signed under Ivory Music Label releasing their debut album “Best of Life” in 1996. Samsung launched his solo career in 2000 with the album “Count Your Blessings” after the group disbanded. The album enjoyed massive airplay and was described by some as the Best Gospel Music to ever come out of Nigeria.
In 2004, he released ‘Still Counting’ which might have well been in reference to his awards as this album pulled in a fair share and in 2007, released ‘The World of My Dreams’ with hit tracks like ‘One Love’ which was a remake of one of Onyeka Onwenu’s songs featuring her and ‘Live Right’ featuring Styl Plus. He released ‘Church Boy’ in 2010 and in 2015, he released ‘Introduction’
He has been nominated for a lot of awards incluiding the Best Gospel Artist Award by the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) in New York in 2008.
He has performed on stage and collaborated with other famous gospel artistes like Marvin Winans, Donnie McClurkin and Panam Percy Paul, as well as successful mainstream artists like Donell Jones, Kenny Latimore, TuFace, D’Banj, Faze, and Styl Plus.
Apart from singing, Samsong has a clothing line, Boogie Down and has starred in some Christian movies.

PERSONAL LIFE
His nickname ‘Samsong’ came as a result of the need to differentiate him from his three other friends who were also named ‘Sam’ back in school.
ACHIEVEMENT
He continued his award-winning streak, snagging The Best Male Vocalist of the Year Award at Today’s Music Award in 2004, and Best Male Vocalist of The Year Award in 2005 at The Amen Awards.
At The Vigoma Awards in 2005, he received The Best Video of The Year Award.
His third release titled “The World of My Dreams” was issued in 2007, and was his most ambitious release yet. It featured a remake of the mega hit “One Love” by music icon Onyeka Onwenu, in which he performed a duet with her.
The cd also featured a duet with international superstars Styl-Plus titled Live Right. His ambitious output was recognized with and he was awarded with The Grace Honorary Award for Excellence, that same year. In 2008, he was nominated for The Best Gospel Artist at The Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) held in New York City.
He embarked on an international tour to promote his cd, with stops at South Africa, the United Kingdom and Germany. In Germany, he had recorded and performed with Chris Lass, the famous German gospel producer and artist. His most recent headlining tour was in August 2009. He toured the island of Seychelles, and was privileged to have dinner with the Vice President, Joseph Belmont.
