Premier League clubs monitoring Mason Greenwod

Premier League clubs are closely monitoring the progress of Mason Greenwood during his season-long loan spell at Getafe from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old forward’s move to La Liga in September was initiated by Manchester United following an internal investigation, deeming it beneficial for Greenwood to continue his career away from Old Trafford.

Previously faced with serious allegations including attempted rape, assault, and coercive control, the charges against the striker were dropped in February, clearing the way for his football endeavors.

Mason Greenwood, having appeared ten times in La Liga this season, has showcased his talent by netting twice and contributing three assists. His recent goal in Getafe’s 2-1 victory over Almeria, a striking effort from outside the box, demonstrated his prowess on the field.

Despite being settled in Spain, Greenwood’s long-term future remains uncertain, attracting interest from various Premier League clubs. Scouts from multiple English sides have reportedly been present at the Estadio Coliseum to observe Greenwood’s performances.

During the summer transfer window, no Premier League team expressed interest in securing Greenwood on loan. However, there were inquiries from two Championship teams and clubs in Italy and Turkey.

Getafe is eager to extend Greenwood’s stay in Spain and has scheduled a meeting with Manchester United in April to discuss the possibility. The club recognizes the competition they might face due to Greenwood’s recent consistent run of games after 18 months.

Manager Jose Bordalas commended Greenwood’s impact since his arrival, emphasizing the patience and collective effort in aiding Greenwood’s return to form after a prolonged absence from competitive football.

Furthermore, reports from The Athletic suggest Mason Greenwood is actively learning Spanish to enhance communication with his teammates.

Getafe, currently positioned eighth in the La Liga table, is gearing up for their upcoming match against Las Palmas on Friday as they aim to continue their positive run in the league.
