Obasanjo’s Former Aide, Osuntokun Appointed As Okupe’s Replacement
Labour Party’s Peter Obi have reported appointed Akin Osuntokun, the former Political Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, as the new Director General of its Presidential Campaign.
The Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure made the announcement on Tuesday, December 27, in Abuja.
According to Abure, the decision was taken following extensive talks with all party stakeholders.
Doyin Okupe, who resigned from the job last week, has been replaced by Osuntokun.
Okupe resigned from his job as a result of a federal high court decision convicting him of money laundering.
The court sentenced him to two years in jail, with the option of paying a N500,000 fine on each count, for a total of N13 million.
Okupe chose to pay the fine after he was sentenced.
