NPFL to ban clubs that live stream league matches

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) has prohibited teams within its league from streaming matches live on streaming platforms.

This was disclosed to the media by the partner of the NPFL GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited while reviewing the prize money for the winner of the 2023/24 season to newsmen.

According to the report, the NPFL games will only be streamed on live broadcast by the accredited broadcast sponsor of the Nigerian football league.

Ahead of the new football league season set to begin towards the ending of August, specifically August 26, the newly appointed Football league board continues to put modalities in place before the commencement of the new season.

The winner of the 2023-24 NPFL season will reportedly win a cash prize of N150million.

The move to ban the Nigerian professional football league teams who stream live league matches on unlicensed platforms, is aimed at encouraging sponsorship in the Nigerian league.
