Nigerian armed forces rescue 18 kidnap victims in Katsina State operations

Nigeria's armed forces neutralise 974 terrorists, apprehend 621 suspects, rescue 466 hostages

In a coordinated effort on May 22nd, 2024, the Nigerian Armed Forces Combat Team One, alongside the Nigerian Police Force and the Katsina Community Watch Corps, executed successful operations in Katsina State, neutralizing one insurgent and rescuing 18 kidnap victims.

The first operation, initiated at 10:30 am, targeted insurgent activity near Maidabino River Line and Kanawa villages. Combat Team One engaged insurgents stealing cattle, resulting in the neutralization of one insurgent and the retreat of others with injuries, as reported by Dailypost.

No Nigerian forces sustained casualties during the operation, confirmed a military source.

Earlier, at 9:45 am, troops intercepted suspected stolen cows en route from Sarika village to Alhassanwa village.

Seven stolen cows were recovered and handed over to Danmusa LGA officials.

In a subsequent operation at 11:25 am, a joint force raided a suspected insurgent camp in Saunin Bala Maidala village, rescuing 18 victims comprising one male, nine females, and eight children.

The victims, from Safana LGA, were reunited with their families.
