Music: Demi Lovato – Daddy Issues [Video+Lyrics]

Demi shared a bit more behind one of the more personal tracks on Tell Me You Love Me — “Daddy Issues.”
On the single, Demi sings “You’re the man of my dreams because you know how to leave.” In the interview, the BBC called it one of the most cutting lyrics of the year, inquiring what the song is about. The performer shared that the lyrics were ones she came up with, based off her own experiences.
“When you grow up with an absent father, you have relationship issues — and sometimes you go for the type of person who feels familiar,” she said. “So that lyric was about something that felt familiar.”
