At least four bandits were killed, while five of their collaborators were arrested by troops of the Operation Sahel Sanity in their various operations in Katsina and Zamfara states, TopNaija reports.

 

The troops also rescued six kidnapped victims, recovered 128 cows, 18 sheep and six goats during the operations, which included the bombardment of bandits’ locations, routine patrol and snap checks from September 25 to October 3, 2020.

The acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, made the revelation in a statement made available to journalist in Katsina on Tuesday.

He revealed that the troops also recovered weapons, including locally made guns, charms and special ammunition during the operations.

The statement read, “On October 2, 2020, gallant troops of Operation Sahel Sanity deployed at Sabon Layi rescued four kidnapped victims from Giruwa village of Dandume LGA of Katsina State following artillery bombardments on suspected bandits’ location at Unguwan-Doka village, which resulted in neutralising four of the bandits, while others escaped into the forest.

“It was also revealed that the troops, while on routine patrol along Faskari-Yankara Road on October 1, 2020, arrested a suspected bandit informant named Idris Yahaya spying on troop’s activities.”
