“Messi Didn’t Deserve To Win Ballon d’Or Over Haaland” – Singer Bayanni Spills
Infamous Nigerian singer, Oladokun Abimbola Elijah popularly known as Bayanni has given his personal opinion as regards Messi winning the Ballon d’Or 2023.
The singer, Bayanni, after Argentine footballer Lionel Messi won the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or, stated that the football icon didn’t do enough to deserve the award over Haaland.
This comes after Lionel Messi saw off competition from Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and others to win a record-extending eighth award.
Messi Wins the Ballon d’Or, Bayanni Reacts
During an interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, Bayanni while standing on his ground, argued that a lot of other players have won the World Cup in the past and weren’t handed the Ballon d’Or.
He said, “Based on what I’ve been hearing from people, Messi won the Ballon d’Or because he won the World Cup. But many people collected World Cup trophies in the past, and they didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.
“What I’m saying is that it should have been Haaland or somebody else but not Messi.”
