Liverpool star's Father wants Son out of the club

The future of Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara has come under speculation this summer, with the news being rife about his potential exit from the club.

However, the Spaniard rose to the challenge to maintain his stance despite interests from a host of Saudi Arabian clubs that knocked at his door to woo him out of Merseyside this summer.

And now, it is being reported that the player’s father, Mazinho wants his son out of Liverpool.

In a recent interview, Mazinho Alcantara, openly expressed his desire to see his son depart Merseyside for a potential move to Celta Vigo. a club he dubs as the family’s club.

This revelation follows a summer of notable changes in Liverpool’s midfield, with prominent players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho opting for lucrative contracts in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have left the club upon the expiration of their contracts.

While Liverpool has made new signings in the form of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai, the latter has garnered particular attention with impressive performances in the initial three games of the Premier League season.

The spotlight, however, remains on influential Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who is on the brink of a long-awaited return to action.

Thiago recently resumed training following Liverpool’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Newcastle on Sunday. His absence during pre-season was attributed to a hip injury that required surgery before the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

Thiago’s return is expected to provide a significant boost to Jurgen Klopp’s squad throughout the remainder of the season.

Yet, questions about his future loom, suggesting that his time at Merseyside might be limited. Numerous reports have linked him to potential moves to the Saudi Pro League over the course of the summer.

Adding to the intrigue, Thiago’s father, Mazinho, a 1994 World Cup champion with Brazil, has voiced his aspiration to witness his son join La Liga outfit Celta Vigo. Mazinho, who himself played 114 matches for Celta over a four-year span, has deep-rooted connections to the club.

Thiago’s brother, Rafinha, also contributed to Celta, participating in 32 games during a loan spell in the 2013/14 season and an additional 29 appearances for the team in 2019/20.

In a statement to Mundo Deportivo, Mazinho acknowledged the complexities of such a move, saying,

“In football, you never know. I hope so [that he can sign for Celta] but at the moment it is very complicated because Thiago has another dimension and another lifestyle.

“But I wish Thiago could come here. Almost all the memories I have from here are very good. Vigo is our home. Rafinha has had the opportunity to come here later to play two seasons… for the whole family, Celta means our home.”
