Liverpool midfielder to get new role in Arne Slot's squad

As Arne Slot steps into his first pre-season as the new head coach of Liverpool, it has become evident that he’s ready to make bold changes, starting with one of Jurgen Klopp’s final signings.

Slot, who joined Liverpool on a three-year deal from Dutch side Feyenoord, is preparing to transform the role of Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, aiming to unlock his full potential in the Reds’ lineup.

Replacing the legendary Klopp, who left this summer after nearly a decade of success, Arne Slot has big shoes to fill. Klopp’s tenure brought Liverpool numerous trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and more. Now, Slot is tasked with continuing that legacy and making his mark on the team.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold should be worried” — Szoboszlai

Liverpool’s pre-season has already seen highs and lows. After a narrow 1-0 defeat to Preston North End, the Reds secured a 1-0 victory against Real Betis in Pittsburgh, thanks to Szoboszlai’s decisive first-half goal.

With two more friendlies in the USA against Arsenal and Manchester United, and a final pre-season clash against Sevilla at Anfield on August 11, all eyes are on Slot’s strategic adjustments.

Szoboszlai, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig last summer for €70m, had a solid debut season with seven goals in 45 appearances.

The Times reports that Arne Slot is considering a significant role change for Szoboszlai, potentially moving him away from the No. 6 position to better utilize his talents. This strategic shift could redefine Liverpool’s midfield dynamics and maximize Szoboszlai’s impact on the pitch.
