Liverpool fans turn on Thiago Alcantara, want player gone

It appears ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ applies to all things but Thiago Alcantara for the Liverpool fanbase as the latest report on the Liverpool midfielder has forced fans to give up on the former Bayern Munich star.

Liverpool fans may be regarded as one of the most patient fans amongst the top European clubs in terms of giving their players the warm welcome, but their star midfielder, Thiago Alcantara isn’t getting the love this time around.

After news turned on the internet that the Spanish midfielder would be going out on another injury spell on the sidelines, the Reds fanbase have had enough of the former Bayern Munich star.

Taking the conversation to social media, some section of the Liverpool fanbase have started calling for the player’s contract to be terminated in frustration to his latest setback.

Thiago Alcantara’s return after some months long absence from the squad, brought the fans a bit of relief when he featured in the match day squad against Arsenal last weekend for the first time since the 2022/23 season.

The Spaniard was even introduced in the second half in the 3-1 defeat to the Gunners, with Alcantara playing only 13 minutes on his return. However, Thursday confirms the Liverpool midfielder who only has months left on his current contract is set for yet another lengthy spell after suffering a muscular injury.

Disgruntled fans took to social media platforms, with one insisting, “Get rid of him ASAP,” while another expressed exasperation, stating, “And people last week said we should give him a new contract. Get him gone asap.”

Criticism extended to the club’s handling of Thiago’s persistent injuries, with one fan remarking,

“Should have gotten rid of this chronic injury-prone player since last summer.”

Despite sentiments of fondness towards the player, others echoed the sentiment that his time at Anfield should not be prolonged, with one supporter pleading,

“I love him but please do not renew his contract.”
