A series of ‘amen’s’ and ‘mm hmm’s filled the room as Titilope Sonuga spoke words of life to the audience. Her poetry struck cords with both the men and women who listened to her eagerly as her 3 part Open series came to a thundering close in the heart of Lagos Island.

Accompanied by a live band Ayodele David, Dozie, Afolabi Adekoima and Obinna Nwere, the Perfect 4th String Quartet, and Afro Jazz Guitarist, Femi Leye, Titilope held back nothing.

The lineup of performers that shared the ‘Open’ stage fit perfectly with the essence of the show which opened with powerhouse vocalist Deborah Ohiri flowing seamlessly into sultry renditions by Naomi Mac (Nigeria Idol), Vicki Gomoti (The Voice Nigeria) and Lolade Ovueraye.

From the sweet and soulful sounds of Omolara to the edgy and always vibrant Falana, to stirring spoken word performances by Efe Paul Azino and Wana Udobang – the room was thick with talent, individuality, and potential.

Looking around the full house of guests dressed in all white standing in ovation for Titilope – you are reminded that your dreams will come true if you are brave enough to be open.
