In a bid to improving the response time to all form of emergencies in the State, the Lagos State Government is set to commission the LASEMA Response Unit in Ikorodu Road by Fadeyi Bus Stop Onipanu to serve Lagosians in this axis and its environs on Wednesday.

The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu disclosed at the Command and Control Centre Alausa, Ikeja, in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

According to him “the administration of Akinwunmi Ambide is committed to ensuring safety of lives and properties of Lagosians through creation of additional Response Unit in strategic locations in the State towards sustained intervention to all forms of emergencies/disasters”.

He further stated that the Unit which has just been completed and equipped, would be commissioned by Ambode and would serve as Dispatch Centre where personnel and equipment would be deployed from time to time to respond to distress calls, thereby adding values to the lives of Lagosians in this axis.

The General Manager noted that the Dispatch Centre on Ikorodu Road would complement the existing dispatch point at the Command and Control Centre Alausa in Ikeja, LASEMA Response Unit at Cappa, Oshodi and the recently commissioned LASEMA Response Unit located at Lekki, by Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, while efforts is on-going to create more Centres in other parts of the State, thereby reducing the response time to incidents.

He called on the public to partner with the government in mitigating and preventing hazards by ensuring that distress calls on identified hazards were relayed to relevant responders or stakeholders through the emergency toll free line 112/767 so as to make the State a safe haven for Lagosians and investors.
