    Katy Perry sells her music catalog for $225 million American singer-songwriter Katy Perry has sold her music catalog to Litmus Music, a subsidiary of The Carlyle Group, for a record $225 million.

The deal includes her stake in her master recordings and publishing rights for all five of her studio albums released through Capitol Records, spanning from 2008’s “One of the Boys” to 2020’s “Smile.”

This encompasses popular hits like “Firework,” “Teenage Dream,” “Hot ‘n’ Cold,” “California Gurls,” and “I Kissed a Girl.”

This is the largest catalog deal for a single artiste ever. Notably, Justin Bieber, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan have all previously sold their music catalogues for hundreds of millions of dollars. Justin Bieber was the previous record holder, having sold his back catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million in January.

Two of Katy Perry’s songs, “Dark Horse” and “Roar,” have amassed over one billion streams on Spotify, with “Roar” being one of the most-watched videos on YouTube with 3.8 billion plays.

In recent years, Katy Perry has shifted her focus to her Las Vegas residency and raising a family with her partner, actor Orlando Bloom.
