A  farmer was reportedly hacked to death in the early hours of Tuesday by suspected militants in Taraba.

The incident, which occurred in the Rafin-Kada area of Wukari Local Government Council, has again triggered tensions in the community and the council at large.

The victim was working on his farm when his life was cut short.

The attack comes barely two days after no fewer than five people were reportedly hacked to death in reprisal attacks that took place in the local government council.

Confirming the incident, a member of the community who gave his name as Nwunuji Bawa, said the victim, identified as Nehemiah Mannaseh, was killed in the early hours of today when “most farmers are yet to arrive in their farms.”

He added: “After killing him, they [the militia] came close to the town and shot into the air for minutes before disappearing.”

When contacted for a reaction, the Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, said the command has not yet been informed about the incident.
