It will be an honour — Jurgen Klopp on managing Die Mannschaft

Liverpool without Jurgen Klopp is a day the Liverpool fanbase dread, but inevitably, that day is coming…
In the midst of growing rumors linking Liverpool’s charismatic manager, Jurgen Klopp, to the position of the German national team coach, the Reds’ boss has unequivocally put an end to the speculations.
Jurgen Klopp has firmly stated that he will not abandon his current role before his contract expires, reiterating his commitment to seeing out his tenure at Liverpool, which runs until 2026.
The speculations regarding Klopp’s potential appointment as the German national team manager gained traction due to Die Mannschaft’s recent struggles on the international stage. Germany’s performance in the last two World Cups, where they were eliminated in the group stages, has fueled discontent among fans and media alike.
Adding to the pressure on the incumbent German head coach, Hansi Flick, is the fact that Euro 2024 will be hosted by Germany. Flick has faced criticism for the team’s lackluster performance, securing only four victories in their last 16 matches.
However, Jurgen Klopp has firmly quashed any possibility of a mid-contract departure from Liverpool to take up the national team position. In an interview with Metro UK, Klopp emphasized that while being the national coach would be a great honor, his loyalty to Liverpool and the responsibility he feels towards the club are paramount.
“The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty. I can’t just leave Liverpool now and say I will take over Germany for a short time. That doesn’t work, and the request is not even there,” Klopp affirmed.
He further explained that if he were to consider managing Germany at some point in the future, he would have to be available for the role, which is not the case at present. Klopp remains focused on his duties at Liverpool and has made it clear that he intends to honor his contract with the club.
While acknowledging the allure of coaching the national team, Klopp expressed his openness to exploring different opportunities after his time with Liverpool comes to an end. He remarked,
“Basically, it is an interesting job. But I don’t know yet whether I will do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I want to keep my options open.”
Jurgen Klopp’s unwavering commitment to Liverpool comes as reassuring news for the club’s supporters, who have come to admire his passion, tactical acumen, and leadership.
As for the German Football Association (DFB), they will have to consider alternative options for the national team’s head coach position, as Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he remains steadfast in his loyalty to Liverpool and has no intentions of departing prematurely.
