Israel-Palestine conflict: Group calls on UN, US to action

As the death toll in the Israel-Palestine conflict reached 1,000 on Sunday, the United Global Resolve for Peace (UGRFP) has called upon the international community, with a particular focus on the United Nations and the United States of America, to take a leading role in seeking a long-term resolution to this enduring and devastating conflict.

The UGRFP has urged the UN and the US to engage in diplomatic discussions involving key regional players, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, to support the development of a comprehensive peace agreement between the conflicting parties.

The organization stressed the importance of prioritizing humanity over geopolitical interests and called for immediate action.

Shalom Olaseni, the chairperson of the UGRFP, delivered this message during a press conference held in Abuja on Monday.

He emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need to address the suffering of innocent civilians, including women, children, and men, who have been caught in the crossfire, resulting in widespread destruction and instability in the region.

Olaseni stated,

“The United Global Resolve for Peace stands with unwavering concern and urgency to address the escalating Israel-Palestine conflict, now further compounded by the dangerous dimension introduced by Hamas.

“We express our deep distress at the unfolding humanitarian crisis, which poses an imminent threat to global peace and security.”

He emphasized that the recent developments, exacerbated by actions taken by Hamas, have pushed the region to a critical juncture.

Olaseni called on the international community to recognize that this is not a localized issue but rather a global crisis with far-reaching consequences beyond the Middle East.

“The UGRFP urgently calls upon the international community, and specifically, the United Nations and the United States of America, to lead the way in seeking a lasting solution to this protracted conflict,” Olaseni urged.

“It is time to prioritize humanity over geopolitical interests and stop using this conflict as a pawn in the proxy war between the U.S. and Iran.”

The UGRFP’s plea is rooted in the recognition of the toll on human lives and the immense suffering endured by countless families in the region.

They emphasized that the cries of innocent civilians trapped in the midst of the Israel-Palestine conflict should resonate with the conscience of every person on Earth.

Olaseni stated,

“The UGRFP calls upon the nations of the world to unite, to find common ground, and to work tirelessly towards a peaceful resolution to the Israel/Palestine conflict.

“The time for diplomatic intervention is now. Failure to act will not only perpetuate the suffering of those directly affected but will also cast a dark shadow over the prospects of a harmonious and secure world for generations to come.

“Let us remember the sanctity of every life at stake and commit ourselves to achieving lasting peace in this troubled region.”
