Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, has acknowledged the huge challenge facing his team as they prepare for their crucial Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Real Madrid. Klopp has admitted that his team has only a “one percent chance” of overturning the 5-2 deficit from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Liverpool squad had initially taken a 2-0 lead, but Madrid staged a remarkable comeback, securing a three-goal advantage, which left Liverpool with a mountain to climb in the return leg.

Jurgen Klopp and his team famously staged a remarkable comeback against Barcelona in the 2019 semi-final second-leg, defeating the Spanish giants 4-0 at Anfield after losing 3-0 at Camp Nou. Klopp remains hopeful that his players can produce another historic win on Wednesday.

Klopp admitted in a recent press conference that, “What I said after the game three weeks ago was that Madrid are through to the next round. But three weeks later, we know there is a game to play and if it is only a one percent chance, I would like to give it a try.”

Despite the daunting odds, Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his players can draw inspiration from their past successes and produce a memorable performance in Madrid.
